Gonaives Diocese Education

The Gonaives diocese in the north runs 65 Catholic schools and employs 959 teachers. As it is one of the poorest diocese in the Western Hemisphere, Hands Together provides support to help supplement teach salaries and provide basic educational materials like benches and school desks for the classrooms.

Major Goals & Needs

• All diocesan schools lack funds to pay teachers and outfit classrooms -- we need to seek out groups willing to sponsor a school;
• Install water wells and anti-Cholera programs at as many schools as possible.
